While the world of work is evolving ever faster with new technologies, values and ways of working, the school system has hardly changed at all in the last 100 years. To ensure that Germany can keep up with international comparisons, change is needed as quickly as possible. Guest author Lisa Steinhauser graduated from high school in 2020 and is now gaining her first experience of the working world. In this article, she describes how big the differences are between these two worlds. And shows how the school system needs to change in order to prepare students for the world of work 4.0 rather than continuing to frustrate them.
