The bubble around the school system needs to burst

Education and schools are the basic building blocks of progress. To overcome current challenges, such as adults frustrated by their jobs or too few women in technical professions, we need to start right there and get to the root of the problem. I graduated from high school in 2020 and am now taking part in the qualification year for young women interested in technology, “proTechnicale“, during which I am gaining my first work experience in the HR tech startup matched.io. Through my current experiences, certain insights have been derived for me. Realities that need to be changed in school today, so that tomorrow there will be happy adults and more female workers in the STEM field.

What should I do after school is over?

By the tenth grade at the latest, I was frustrated with the school system. Bored students, hardly any options to deepen one’s own interests and a grading system that only exerts pressure instead of motivating. The first two points have improved considerably since I changed to the Landesgymnasium für Hochbegabte. Through individual support aimed at building on the strengths of the individual, the students had more fun at school and were much more motivated as a result.
